Your data and your privacy are very important to us and we do everything we can to ensure your data is treated with absolute respect.

We, Bristol School of Yoga, are a small independent community business with our registered office at 16 Backfields Lane, Bristol BS2 8QW. Our company is registered in England and Wales under registration number 07656374.

We use data purely for our own use and for the interest of our students and have reviewed our data collection and retention policy in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which the website collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a ‘User’) of the website (‘Site’). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by Bristol School of Yoga.

The type of information we collect

Personal Identification Information

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, register on the site, subscribe to the newsletter, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, email address. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information.

Account Data

In order to purchase something from Bristol School of Yoga either online or in person, we require your first name, last name, address and postcode, telephone number and email address. This data is stored in your account on our management system Acuity, click here for more information and to view their privacy policy.

We use this information so that we know who you are when you come to the studio and so that we can contact you if required according to your subscription preferences as outlined below. We also use this information for our own data analysis. We will not share any of this information with any other companies or organisations.

Billing Information

When you make a purchase through our website you will be given the option to store your billing information.

Acuity is a secure system who are GDPR and PCI level 1 compliant. Bristol School of Yoga staff cannot access your billing details, we can only view the last 4 digits of your card number and the expiry date – so your billing information is safe. We would never pass any of this information to other companies or organisations.

Operational Emails

Without subscribing to any communications from Bristol School of Yoga you can request to receive the following operational emails from us:

  • Notification of failed automatic payments - on monthly plans only

  • Appointment (one to one) confirmations - if requested

  • Reset login information - if requested

  • Purchase receipts - if requested

  • Gift Card Delivery notification – if purchased

  • Your schedule - if requested

Requesting any of these operational emails will not affect your subscription preferences, you will need to request the operational email each time you would like to receive one.

Email Reminders and Notifications

When you sign up you will be asked if you would like to opt-in to receive email reminders and notifications. If you will be regularly attending Bristol School of Yoga then we would suggest signing up to receive these reminders and notifications , without this level of subscription we cannot contact you about any changes to your bookings such as a class or workshop cancellation.

As part of this optional level of subscription you will receive automatic emails generated by Acuity including:

Account Management - Notifications regarding your contracts or auto pays (monthly plans only) such as:

  • Autopay purchase confirmation

  • Contract confirmation

  • Automatic payment method expiration

  • Contract reminders

  • Contract renewal notifications

Schedule Updates - Notifications regarding the services you have booked (includes classes, courses, workshops, appointments and events) such as:

  • Booking confirmations

  • Booking cancellations

  • Payment plan confirmations

  • Booking amendments and notifications

  • Any other essential information relating to your booking

You have the option unsubscribe from or subscribe to either account management or schedule updates separately.

If you are subscribed to email reminders and notifications and we need to contact you with essential information, we may also use Gmail to contact you, click here to find out more information and to view their privacy policy to see how your data is stored. This Gmail account can only be accessed by Bristol School of Yoga staff and your information will only be used for communications relating to your level of subscription as outlined above. We will not share this information with any other organisations or companies.

You are welcome to unsubscribe from email reminders and notifications, or to separately subscribe to or unsubscribe from account management or schedule updates.

You submit a request to change your subscription preferences by clicking the unsubscribe / set preferences links at the bottom of any Bristol School of Yoga automatic email.

Newsletters and Promotions

You will also be given the option to sign up to newsletters and promotions when you sign up to Bristol School of Yoga, and you can update this subscription at any time. If you subscribe to newsletters and promotions then your details will be shared with FloDesk - see the mailing list section below for more information. In addition, you will receive automated promotional emails from our Acuity system including:

  • New client welcome email

  • Class pass time running out notification

  • Class pass visits remaining low notification

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for our monthly email newsletter, we collect personal information. We use that information to tell you about classes or events you’ve asked us to tell you about or anything you’d be interested in like promotions and events.

We don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses apart from our sister company, Laura Gilmore Yoga. When you sign up for our mailing list we may also share your information with Laura Gilmore Yoga.

We use an email platform provider, FloDesk, to deliver our email newsletter. This third party company is synced to your Acuity account and so whenever you update your communications preferences it will be linked to how you will hear from us.

We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our email newsletter. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails. We do not rent or trade email lists with other organisations or businesses.

Non-Personal Identification Information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users’ means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.

Web Browser Cookies

Our Site may use cookies to enhance User experience. User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.

Google analytics

When someone visits bristolschoolofyoga.co.uk we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. The information is only used in a way that doesn’t identify the user. We or Google does not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Bristol School of Yoga may collect and use Users personal information for the following purposes:

  • To improve customer service.

  • Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently.

  • To personalise user experience.

  • We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site.

Sharing your personal information

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others, apart from our sister company, Laura Gilmore Yoga. When you sign up for our mailing list we may also share your information with Laura Gilmore Yoga. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

In order to run our business effectively we use large well-known providers who have a stringent policy when it comes to storing data. We employ third party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

Access to your personal information

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
