As a yoga school we want to be of service in our community and share the gift of yoga amongst people of all cultures, ethnic minorities, learning abilities, and ages.

At Bristol School of Yoga we are committed to making sure that our courses are as inclusive and welcoming as possible.

We have a Bursary Scheme to enable and empower students who have been affected by racism and discrimination - acts that are not compatible with the practice of yoga.

Our teaching methodology aims to meet the needs of a diverse range of students. We understand the challenges associated with neurodiversity including dyslexia, autism, ADHD and Tourettes. We have also accommodated trainees with hearing loss.

Our coursework procedures are adaptable to suit different learning styles. We know that long essays don't work for everyone - our assignments have been drawn, embroidered and even danced! Trainees are invited to express their understanding and relationship with yoga, such as the ancient texts or anatomy in a way that means something for them.

Our teaching is experiential with plenty of movement along side open discussion. If required, we can recommend video resources instead of reading materials.

We integrate trauma sensitive principles into our day to day teaching, for example trainees may choose when they feel ready to co-teach, or if they need space that day.

We foster an environment of mutual respect amongst the trainees, this is an integral part of weaving the web of ahimsa, or non harm and truth that helps each of us feel safe and valued.

We see yoga as an opportunity to look with clarity both inside ourselves, and to those around us for guidance. We want to be honest about who we are, where we are at, and where we want to go. We hope to share this path and practice with you be able to meet your needs.

“There is a lot to learn and it's a transformational ride but the support given by Laura and the BSY team was everything you could ask for. From practical skills to reading recommendations, extra support/time because of my Dyslexia to hand holding & hugs when they were needed (pre-covid times!). BSY created a wonderful learning experience and support network to give me the skills and confidence to follow my dream.”
