Course Content

Truly embody what you learn with our broad experiential curriculum. This is a non-dogmatic training which looks at the different schools and teachings of yoga in their historical context.

  • How to sequence yoga courses

  • Yoga asana practice: key principles, alignment & hands-on adjustment

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The course starts with a four-day module (Thursday – Sunday). The rest of the training modules are a mix of two or three days. The days run from 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. with lunch 1.00 - 2.00 p.m. There will be some online content for trainees to work through in their own time as part of the course.

    • Module 1: 2nd - 5th October 2025 (4 days, Thursday - Sunday)

    • Module 2: 7th - 9th November 2025 (3 days, Friday - Sunday)

    • Module 3: 5th - 7th December 2025 (3 days, Friday - Sunday)

    • Module 4: 23rd - 25th January 2026 (3 days, Friday - Sunday)

    • Module 5: 21st - 22nd February 2026 (2 days, Saturday - Sunday)

    • Module 6: 20th - 22nd March 2026 (3 days, Friday - Sunday)

    • Module 7: 25th - 26th April 2026 (2 days, Saturday - Sunday)

  • The training days are from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with an hour for lunch. Lunch is usually from 1.00 - 2.00 p.m.

    • At least 2 years steady practice, including one year of regular practice online or in person with a teacher.

    • An understanding of the key yoga asanas such as trikonasana (triangle pose), vrksasana (tree pose), bhujangasana (cobra), ardo mukha svanasana (down dog) etc. The course teaches you how to teach these and other yoga postures. Having an understanding of what the body is doing in these asanas is key, so that you can draw on your experience when it comes to teach them yourself.

  • You need one day or two evenings a week to study at home. Home study is adaptable to suit your needs & is guided & supported. It will include:

    * Reading the key texts

    * Preparing an anatomy & physiology group presentation

    * Preparing a Yoga sutra presentation

    * Talking together about yoga philosophy concepts as part of the course

    * Observing 6 yoga classes and writing up your observations as a course assignment

    * Teaching 6 yoga classes & reflecting on your teaching as a course assignment

    * Writing a main essay on a yoga topic of your choice

    There are also a couple of reviews, exams & assessments as part of the course. These include:

    * An anatomy & physiology open book exam

    * Studying for your final written review / exam

    * A personal practice assessment - to check you understand the main principles of the yoga postures & practices

    * A final teaching assessment

  • The Hatha & Restorative 200 hour Teacher Training tuition fees are £3,270.

  • We offer two payment plans, which are available depending on when you enrol in the course. Please get in touch if you feel you need an alternative payment plan to make the course financially accessible for you,

    Long Payment Plan - Available up to 6 months before the course start date
    £500 deposit, followed by 15 monthly payments of £184.67
    Total fees - £3,270

    Short Payment Plan - Available within 6 months of the course start date
    £500 deposit, followed by 10 monthly payments of £277
    Total fees - £3,270

    When you apply, you will be asked to pay a £500 deposit. If your application is successful, you will be automatically signed up to the payment plan which is available on your application date, using the payment method you provided to pay your deposit.

    Your first payment will be taken automatically 1 month after you pay your deposit. Your payment schedule can only be changed with agreement from Bristol School of Yoga.

  • There are a number of books you will need to read and be familiar with before starting the course, and some books that we recommend you read to support your studies. I hope you will find all of them useful throughout life too.

  • The course is registered with and certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals (UK) and Yoga Alliance US. You will also receive a BSY certificate of attendance for 200-hours.

  • We don't offer refunds or deferrals due to the pandemic as all of our courses have been adapted with safety and flexibility in mind.

    In exceptional circumstances where access to the studio is restricted, due to any circumstance, such as extreme weather, act of God, or pandemic; BSY will aim to continue the course. Any affected training modules or courses will be delivered in an online format. In this way, BSY will provide all materials needed to fulfil its obligations.

    To graduate, you will need to see the training through whether in person or online.

    Course format when the studio is forced to close

    The course will be run online via livestream sessions and self study. We have used this format successfully for previous courses and are confident that we can maintain our high standards.

    Course format when studio capacity is limited

    When training can take place in person but we have limited studio capacity, we will offer a limited number of in studio places in accordance with government restrictions. You will have the opportunity to book your space in studio for each training day.

    There will also be the option to join the livestream from home.

    We have had plenty of practice with this format, have had good feedback and are confident we can maintain our high standards.

    COVID-19 Cancellation Policy

    We cannot offer refunds or deferral due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    In exceptional circumstances where access to the studio is restricted, due to any circumstance, such as extreme weather, act of God, or pandemic; Bristol School of Yoga will aim to continue the course. Any affected training modules or courses will be delivered in an online format. In this way, Bristol School of Yoga will provide all materials needed to fulfil its obligations.

    You are obliged to see the training through whether in person or online. Refunds will not be given due to amendments being made to how a training course is delivered in unforeseen circumstances and where Bristol School of Yoga is forced to change the advertised description of the course.
